The Concept: Taba-Yoga is a blend of Tabata (high intensity interval training) and yoga. It’s ideal for anyone who finds their mind wandering in traditional yoga as the practice will focus all your mental energy on the movements and asanas plus get your heart rate up and burn calories in the process. Its also perfect for people that time poor as it combines the benefits of hard cardio and relaxation in one workout.
The session starts with traditional sun salutations before numerous rounds of high intensity exercises with short recovery in between and Vinyasa style flowing movements. For example, we did twenty seconds of jumping planks, with ten second rests. In each section there are 4 different exercises and you repeat this to make 8 exercises per section. We did four different sections which focus on different areas and different movements before moving back into traditional Vinyasa practice and then finally some Pranayama at the end to cool us down and relax
What You Need: Typical yoga kit, everything is done bare footed.
Difficulty Rating: 4/5 – the tabata bit is tough in the cardio sense, while the yoga challenges you strength and flexibility. All in all an immensely rewarding class
